Chris Ross (Hurst, Texas) scored the Raiders lone goal to cut Cornell's lead in the second half, but the Big Red held on to their early advantage for a 3-1 win against the Raiders on Tuesday night at Berman Field.
Cornell was the first to score as the Big Red's Jimmy Lannon sent a loose ball in the Colgate box past Raiders goalkeeper

The Raiders came out strong in the second half, but the Big Red again earned the first scoring chance of the half as JJ Bain put in a shot from the back post.
Colgate responded three minutes later when sophomore
Will Zabel (Simsbury, Conn) crossed a ball into the corner to freshman forward
Shane Conlin (Randolph, N.J.). Conlin passed to Ross who found the back of the net with a low shot from the post to come within one goal of the Big Red, 2-1.
Cornell would score once more time before the end of the match, improving their record to 5-3-3 on the year, while the Raiders fall to 5-6-1 overall.
The Raiders remained close in shots, with Cornell holding a 13-12 edge. Prather made two saves in the loss, while Scott Brody had five for the Big Red.
Colgate will be back in action this Saturday, Oct. 17, when they face Patriot League opponent Lafayette in Easton, Pa. at 7 p.m.
