Student-Athlete Academic Support guides student-athletes in reaching their full potential. Our fundamental premise lies in developing self-reliant and independent learners while fostering the overall growth and maturation of every student-athlete. We assist student-athletes in creating comprehensive educational plans and encourage them to integrate and participate as vested members in the academic community. We are fully committed to enhancing student-athletes' undergraduate experience, well-being, and overall development through collaboration with campus resources.
The primary functions of Student-Athlete Academic Support are:
-
To connect student-athletes with the appropriate campus resources, such as the Center for Learning, Teaching & Research (including tutoring), the Writing and Speaking Center, the Office of Administrative Advising, Academic Advisors, and the Office of Student Disability Services.
-
To assist first-year and transfer student-athletes in the transition to Colgate and university life.
-
To meet individually with student-athletes to develop educational plans, help with time management and study skills, or prepare for advising meetings.
-
To maintain the Athletic Academic Achievement Center, available to student-athletes seven days a week.
-
To support and provide structure to the Faculty Liaison program.
