FACULTY LIAISONS | TRAVEL CALENDARS | SPORT SUPERVISORS
The Athletic Academic Support staff provides student-athletes with guidance with the following principles in mind:
- Encourage student-athletes to explore diverse subjects and enjoy the full liberal arts experience, and discuss academic options with their faculty advisor.
- Explore ways to make any field of study a possible path for a student-athlete by working with faculty and coaches on meeting the special needs of the student-athlete.
- Empower student-athletes to independently select courses and professors that align with their academic interests and goals.
- Encourage student-athletes to create a well-balanced schedule that harmonizes academic commitments with athletic responsibilities, ensuring success both in the classroom and on the field.
- Create weekly schedules with set study times to enable the student-athlete to stay on track with their academic workload.
- Collaborate with coaches to minimize the number of missed classes during their playing season.
- Encourage student-athletes to build strong relationships with professors, utilizing office hours and engaging in meaningful academic discussions.
- Promote campus resources, such as the Writing and Speaking Center, Center for Learning, Teaching & Research (CLTR), and more.

FACULTY LIAISON PROGRAM
The Colgate faculty liaison program provides Colgate student-athletes with the opportunity to develop working relationships with Colgate faculty members outside the classroom or formal advising environment in an effort to enhance the academic and athletic experience for the student-athlete. The faculty liaison does not replace the faculty advisor or administrative advisor, but may be in a strong position to promote regular communication among student-athletes and their advisors and/or professors, as well as make appropriate referrals when appropriate.
The program establishes additional moments for faculty members to engage with students outside of the classroom setting, providing a unique service opportunity. Whether former high school or collegiate student-athletes themselves, or someone who just enjoys athletics, there are opportunities to learn more about the ins and outs of our programs and create deeper relationships with our student-athletes.
To learn more about the faculty liaison, please check out our Best Practices guide. If you would like to nominate yourself or another faculty member to be a faculty liaison, we encourage you to do so using the Faculty Liaison Interest Form!
