Career day at Fordham earns league’s weekly nod

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Colgate Football junior running back Danny Shaban has been named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week following a career performance in the Raiders' 24-14 season-opening victory at Fordham last Friday.

Shaban powered the Colgate offense with career highs across the board, rushing 28 times for 214 yards and two touchdowns. He added three receptions for 26 yards to finish with 240 all-purpose yards.

His performance marks Colgate's first individual 200-yard rushing game since Nov. 3, 2012, when Gavin McCarney (288) and Jordan McCord (203) both eclipsed the mark in a 65-41 win over Lafayette.

Shaban bookended the scoring for the Raiders, capping Colgate's opening drive with a one-yard touchdown run before sealing the victory on a 29-yard touchdown burst with 1:53 remaining in regulation.

Behind Shaban's performance, Colgate outgained Fordham 434-189 in total offense, including 275 yards on the ground. The victory marks the Raiders' first win in the Bronx since 2018 (41-0) and their first 1-0 start to Patriot League play since their 2018 championship campaign.
