Kellogg secures first career clean sheet

HAMILTON - As the fog began to sweep in, Cole Ramey spun his defender inside the 18-yard box and clipped the ball past the New Hampshire goalkeeper in the 68th minute to give Colgate an opening day victory at Beyer-Small '76 Field on Thursday night.

MOMENTS OF THE GAME

Christian Kellogg got his first collegiate action in net early with a save in the first five minutes of the match.
UNH picked up a yellow card moments later after preventing a Colgate counter.
Ramey got off the Raiders first shot of the game but it was equaled by the New Hampshire netminder.
Nothing separated the sides at the break with the score 0-0.
Kellogg came up with a goal-saving reflex save just moments into the second half as he palmed away a chance in front of the goal.
After some pressure from UNH, Colgate capitalized on a cross inside the penalty area as Ramey swiveled to his right and put the ball into the top half of the net.
The Wildcats responded with pressure for the remaining 20 minutes of the game but Kellogg was equal to everything including a full stretch parry to his left with just over 10 minutes to go.
The Raiders earned the gritty 1-0 victory to begin the 2026 season.

NOTES

In his first collegiate start, Kellogg finished with eight saves and a clean sheet.
Ramey scored his fourth career goal.
Connor Cates made his return from injury after missing the entire 2025 season.
The Raiders begin 1-0 for the second consecutive year and earn their first win over UNH since 2018.

Colgate (1-0) heads to Vermont on Sunday for its first road match of the season. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Virtue Field.
