Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Dylan Rippe

Raiders Top No. 19 Cornell, 1-0

Osborne scores first career goal

HAMILTON
- Spencer Osborne's 57th minute strike proved to be enough to lift Colgate men's soccer over No. 19 Cornell on Tuesday at Beyer-Small '76 Field.

Osborne scored his first career goal after Mateo Colmenares dropped the ball into his feet about 30 yards away from the net. The first-year took one touch and sliced across the ball swiftly, directing it into the bottom right corner.

Gavin Vichengrad made a career-best 11 saves in the match, none more important than the full-palm swat with two minutes to go.

Moments of the Match
  • 21' | After a cagey opening period, Cornell found rhythm and fired off three attempts in quick succession. Vichengrad was equal to them and kept the match scoreless.
  • 37' | The Big Red had an enormous chance on the stroke of halftime but their efforts close to goal were all blocked by the committed Colgate defenders.
  • 44' | Vichengrad was forced into action one last time before the break and kept the match knotted at zero.
  • 57' | The Raiders absorbed some early pressure before Colmenares and Osborne linked up and put Colgate ahead, 1-0.
  • 64' | Vichengrad was forced to make a triple save after multiple shots from Cornell found their way to the goal mouth.
  • 85' | Cornell made its final push for an equalizer but a combination of relentless defending and remarkable shot stopping from Vichengrad prevented any breakthrough for the visitors.
