HAMILTON – Colgate Football senior wide receiver
Treyvhon Saunders has signed an NFL undrafted free agent contract with the Houston Texans following the 2026 NFL Draft, becoming the latest member of the Raiders program to advance to the professional ranks.
As one of Colgate's most prolific pass-catchers in program history, Saunders will graduate Colgate as the program's all-time leader in receptions with 230, while also holding the single-season receptions record with 88, set during the 2024 campaign.
"Trey has left his mark here at Colgate, and now we are all excited to see him continue his football journey and chase his dreams at the next level," Fred '50 and Marilyn Dunlap Head Football Coach Curt Fitzpatrick said. "Trey makes any team better not only because of what he can do once the ball is snapped, but also who he is as a person and the standard that he brings to the table everyday."
A three-time All-Patriot League First Team selection (2023, 2024, 2025), Saunders was on record-setting pace during his senior season. He led the FCS in receptions (50), reception yards (700), and reception yards per game (116.67) before suffering a season-ending injury in Week 6. Saunders also had six touchdown receptions, which at the time was top 10 nationally.
In his five full games before the season-ending injury, Sauders had 13 catches for 223 yards with two TDs vs Monmouth; 10 catches for 137 yards with a TD against Villanova, 11 catches for 105 yards against Syracuse; nine catches for 126 yards and a TD against Fordham; and six receptions for 91 yards and a TD against Cornell.
That's an average of 14 receptions and 116.7 yards per game. For reference, Cooper Kupp, the FCS National Player of the Year who was drafted in the third round out of Eastern Washington in 2016, averaged 14.53 receptions and 130.77 receiving yards during his senior season.
Saunders garnered national attention entering his senior year, earning Stats FCS Preseason All-America Third Team honors and landing on the Walter Payton Award Preseason Watch List. He later received an invitation to the 2025-26 NFL-FCS Showcase.
Over 40 career games (31 starts), Saunders totaled 2,675 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns, highlighted by a career-long reception of 61 yards. In addition to his receiving production, he contributed in multiple phases with 98 rushing yards, punt and kickoff return duties.
Saunders made an immediate impact early in his career, debuting against Stanford in 2022 before earning his first start later that season against Georgetown. He went on to become a consistent offensive leader, earning Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week honors twice.
A leader on and off the field, Saunders will graduate as a two-time Academic All-Patriot League and FCS ADA Academic All-Star honoree. He was a finalist for the prestigious William V. Campbell Trophy in 2025, presented annually to the nation's top scholar-athlete.
Saunders becomes Colgate's fifth graduate since 2018 to sign an undrafted free agent contract, joining Max Hurleman '24 (Pittsburgh Steelers), Abu Daramy-Swaray '20 (Cincinnati Bengals), Thomas Ives '19 (Chicago Bears), and Pat Afriyie '18 (San Diego Chargers).
