Raiders Drop Tight 58–54 Decision to Boston U

Raiders shoot season-high beyond the arc

BOSTON, Mass. — In a game featuring six narrow lead changes, Colgate committed five fouls in the final minute, allowing Boston University to convert 8 of 10 free throws and pull away for a 58–54 victory.

Despite the loss, Colgate recorded one of its top three shooting performances of the season, shooting 39.6 percent from the field (19–48) and 50 percent from three-point range (8–16).

COACH BUSH'S COMMENTS
"While the outcome of today's game was not what we wanted, I was proud of our effort on both ends of the floor. We held the talented and tall BU team to 22 points in the paint and shot our best percentage from the floor this season at 39.6 percent. We will get back to work and prepare to head to Worcester to play Holy Cross this week."

HOW IT HAPPENED
In a closely contested game, no team ever led by more than six points. Boston U held the lead throughout the first quarter, using two quick layups to build a four-point advantage. Abbey Ferguson sparked the offense with a 3-pointer, but the Terriers responded with a jumper.

Both teams traded baskets, with Madison Schiller, Grace Klag, and Ella Meabon contributing to Colgate's scoring. Boston U's Anete Adler hit a jumper at the end of the possession to give the Terriers a 13–10 lead.

Colgate gained its first lead of the game late in the second quarter, going ahead 20–18 following an 8–0 Raider run. The surge featured 3-pointers from Amarah Streiff and Schiller, followed by Christina Midgette's layup.

Boston U answered with a 6–0 run to regain the lead at 24–20. Each team added a layup before Grace Klag converted a pair of free throws, sending the Raiders into halftime trailing by one possession, 26–24.

Colgate later built its largest lead of the game with back-to-back 3-pointers from Streiff and Schiller. Boston U's Audrey Ericksen responded with a three, but Streiff connected on her third three of the game to give Colgate a 33–29 advantage.

Boston U tied the game three more times in the third quarter, and Anastasiia Semonova's jumper closed the period with the Terriers holding a 39–37 lead.

In the final quarter, the Raiders used a 5–0 run to regain the lead at 44–43. Boston U tied the score at 44, but Meabon's much-needed 3-pointer gave Colgate a three-point cushion.

The lead was short-lived as the Terriers answered with a three of their own. As the final minute approached, Boston U reclaimed the lead through clutch free-throw shooting to secure a 58–54 victory.
