First-Year forward earns fifth weekly honor of the season

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – First-year forward Andrew Alekseyenko was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week for the fifth time this season, announced by the league office Monday afternoon.

Alekseyenko averaged 19.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 4.5 assists in a 2-0 week for the Raiders, who knocked off Loyola 86-80 last Wednesday in Baltimore and Bucknell 95-76 Saturday in Hamilton to help Colgate improve to 5-1 in Patriot League play.

In Colgate's win over Loyola, Alekseyenko hauled in 15 rebounds and scored 16 points – becoming the first Raider since Will Rayman (2020) to record 15 boards in a game – in his first collegiate double-double. He was 7-of-12 from the field with five assists.

Against Bucknell, Alekseyenko poured in a team-high 22 points while efficiently shooting 7-of-10 from the field including 3-for-4 from behind the arc. His scoring effort helped lead Colgate to its highest-scoring home victory in nearly two seasons.

Alekseyenko leads the team with 16 double-figure scoring performances and now has three 20-point games after Saturday's 22-point showing at Bucknell. For the season, the first-year standout is averaging 14.7 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.
