HAMILTON - Ana Schremp's goal right at the beginning of the second half proved to be the deciding factor as the Raiders defeated Navy 2-1 at Beyer-Small '76 Field on Friday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ellie Stokes nearly began the match perfectly for the Raiders with a shot in the opening 30 seconds nearly finding the back of the net.
- Navy immediately responded with a chance of their own.
- Bianca Howitt was found inside by Ari Bezanson but the shot was saved by the Mids goalkeeper.
- Anna Keeling fired a volley in the 11th minute that forced the Navy keeper into action.
- Navy took the lead on a difficult cross that was turned into the Colgate net.
- Molly Richards played a through ball to Bezanson in the 22nd minute, but the midfielder's shot flew just high of the target.
- In the 31st minute, Bezanson took the ball in the midfield and dribbled towards the Navy 18-yard box, used a fake shot to stun the Mids defender and calmly tucked the ball into the bottom right corner.
- Colgate remained on the front foot but the score was tied 1-1 at the half.
- Just three minutes into the second half, Richards played an incisive through ball to Stokes who skipped past her defender and shot it off the left post. On the ensuing rebound, Ana Schremp buried it past the Navy goalkeeper to give Colgate a 2-1 lead.
- 10 minutes into the second frame, Navy had a flurry of four shots, two of which were blocked and Poppinga made two saves to keep the Raiders ahead.
- Bezanson won a penalty with seven minutes left but the kick from the spot was fired high by Howitt.
- The Raiders defense continued to stand tall and Colgate emerged with a 2-1 victory.

- Ana Schremp scored her third goal of the season and first game winner.
- Ari Bezanson netted her fourth goal of the season and leads the Raiders in goals and points.
- Ella Poppinga made eight saves and sits second in the conference in saves per game (5.27).
- Colgate extended its unbeaten streak over the Mids to three matches.
