WORCESTER, Mass. - Morgan McMahon netted a career-high 27 points but it was not enough as the Raiders fell 59-55 in Worcester on Wednesday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Raiders jumped out to an early 7-0 lead as they held Holy Cross scoreless in the opening seven minutes.
- The Crusaders responded with five straight before Taylor Golembiewski buried a jumper in the paint before the first quarter buzzer sounded to give the Raiders a 9-5 lead after one.
- Holy Cross started the second frame with a 11-2 run to take a 16-13 lead.
- Colgate was unable to generate quality offensive looks in the latter stages of the first half and fell behind 29-19 at the halftime break.
- Morgan McMahon scored four of the Raiders opening six points coming out of the first half locker room to get Colgate back within seven.
- Both teams traded blows towards the end of the third quarter but the Crusaders maintained a 41-33 lead after three quarters.
- McMahon drilled a corner triple after Anne Bair picked up an old-fashioned 3-point play to cut the deficit to 46-39.
- McMahon scored seven straight Raiders points on a 7-2 run to tie the game at 50 with under two minutes left in the game.
- Holy Cross hit a triple to take a 53-50 lead with a minute left and the Raiders were unable to get back on level terms as they fell 59-55.
GAME NOTES
- Morgan McMahon scored a career-high 27 points, one point shy of the most scored by a Raider this season (Golembiewski vs BU, 1/11/25).
- Taylor Golembiewski moved into sole possession of third most points all-time in Colgate women's basketball history with 1,448.
- The Raiders held Holy Cross to just five points in the first quarter.
- The loss snaps a season-high six game win streak and four-game win streak over the Crusaders in league play.
