Stewart’s overtime goal was the first of her career

-
Sara Stewart's with 21 seconds remaining in overtime lifted the Raiders over No. 9 Quinnipiac to close out the first half of the season at Class of 1965 Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Colgate began the first period with Alexia Aubin and Emma Pais both having their attempts blocked early on. Farah Walker provided a strong presence in goal, successfully saving several attempts from Quinnipiac, including shots from Aynsley D'Ottavio and Mia Lopata.

Despite earning a power play opportunity midway through the period, Colgate was unable to capitalize. The Bobcats also failed to convert during their power play, as Walker continued to deny scoring chances. The period concluded with both teams locked in a defensive stalemate, 0-0.

Despite a penalty on Pais, Colgate's defense, led by Walker's multiple saves, successfully neutralized the Bobcats' power play. Colgate maintained pressure with attempts from Avery Pickering and Jaimee Spring, but Felicia Frank stood firm for the Bobcats.

As the period progressed, Colgate faced another penalty, this time on Dorothy Copetti for roughing. Again, the defense held strong, with Walker continuing to deny scoring opportunities, including a crucial save against a shot that hit the pipe. Colgate ended the period by keeping the scoreboard even, maintaining a 0-0 tie heading into the final period.

Colgate opened the third period with momentum as Pais scored at 15:56, assisted by Ava Svejkovsky, giving the home team a 1-0 lead. Colgate maintained pressure but the Bobcats responded with a goal from Kahlen Lamarche at 13:58 to level the score at 1-1.

Colgate continued to generate offensive opportunities, including a power play following a cross-checking penalty against the Bobcats. Despite several attempts, Colgate could not convert, as the Bobcats' defense, led by Frank, held firm. The period ended with the teams tied 1-1, as neither side could break the deadlock.

Despite early blocked shots and missed attempts by Casey Borgiel and Avery Pickering, Colgate maintained offensive pressure. Frank of the Bobcats stopped several key shots, preventing early breakthroughs for Colgate.

As the period progressed, Walker stood firm in net for Colgate, recording critical saves against opponents' attempts. With just seconds remaining, Stewart clinched the game for Colgate with a decisive goal at 4:39, assisted by Elyssa Biederman and Walker. Colgate secured a 2-1 victory in overtime.
