Cox’s Double-Double Helps Raiders Top Cardinals

Five Colgate players post double-digit scores

HAMILTON —
Jalen Cox's double-double and Ben Tweedy's Colgate scoring career high helped Colgate prevail 94–50 over St. John Fisher.

Tweedy, Cox, Andrew Alekseyenko, Sam Wright, and Kyle Carlesimo scored at least 10 points, as the team had 10 different players contribute to Colgate's final score. The last time the team had five players in double digits was in an 81–73 Colgate victory over Holy Cross on Feb. 26, 2025.

Collectively, Colgate matched its season high in points (94) and total rebounds (42), logged a season best in assists (29), and recorded its second-best field-goal total and percentage (39–62, 62.9 percent)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Colgate opened play with a hot 11–0 run, blanking St. John Fisher for almost the first four minutes of play. Four of Colgate's five starters contributed at least a bucket during the run.

The Cardinals fired off back-to-back threes to close the gap, but Tweedy's contribution of six straight points for Colgate helped the team maintain the 18–10 lead.

St. John Fisher made a run, trading baskets with Colgate to trail by five midway through the first, but a three-pointer and a bucket from Tweedy and S. Wright helped the Raiders push their lead into double figures, 32–20.

Ayomi Odetoyinbo and Cooper Wright slammed home dunks on back-to-back plays to ignite the Raiders' offensive surge as they entered halftime with an 18-point advantage, 46–28.

Cox initiated the offense out of the half, notching a pair of free throws. The Cardinals put nine additional points on the board, but the Raiders showcased their versatility on the floor, scoring from beyond the arc, on layups, fast breaks, and at the foul line to take a 59–37 lead.

St. John Fisher suffered a five-minute scoring drought as Colgate capitalized on a 27–0 run. The Raiders forced the Cardinals to miss seven shots and turn the ball over twice.

The Cardinals snapped the streak with a pair of free throws and an and-one, but the deficit was too large to overcome as Colgate took the 94–50 victory.
