| By:

This is the first time a Raider has been named Rookie of the week since 2022-23

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Andrew Alekseyenko posted 39 points, including a career-high 21 against No. 14 Illinois, to garner the Patriot League Rookie of the Week award. His selection as this week's recipient marks the first time a Raider has received the award since the 2022-23 season.

In the Raiders' first win of the season, Alekseyenko shot 3–5 from the floor and went 12–14 at the free-throw line. He scored 18 points, collected three rebounds, and recorded an assist in Colgate's 90–83 win over Drexel. As a team, Colgate shot 63 percent from the field (29–46), 61.5 percent from behind the arc (8–13), and 88.9 percent from the free throw line (24–27).

Alekseyenko leads the team in free-throws, shooting 19–22 from the line for 86.4 percent. He ranks fourth in the Patriot League in free throws.

In the most recent loss to No. 14 Illinois, Alekseyenko was the Raiders' go-to man. In his 30 minutes of action, he made 8-16 field goals, one three-pointer, and shot 4–5 from the free-throw line to lead the team with 21 points. The first-year collected six rebounds, recorded one assist, and notched his first collegiate steal.

Junior Jalen Cox was named an honorable mention this week. He scored a total of 38 points, including 26 in the win over Drexel, setting a new career-high. Cox had 13 assists across two games, including nine in the win over Drexel, one shy of recording a double-double. Cox was flawless from the free-throw line, shooting 9–9, and collected 12 rebounds.

Colgate will embark on a three-week road stretch starting tonight at 7 p.m. in Albany, N.Y., to face the Siena Saints.
