BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Coming off a two-interception performance in Colgate's 41-21 win at Cornell on Saturday, junior captain linebacker
Trooper Price was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week.
Price recorded the first two interceptions of his Colgate career, and one of them was a pick-six that he returned 43 yards to the end zone to give Colgate a 28-6 halftime lead. His first pick occurred on Cornell's second possession of the game, helping stake the Raiders to an early 14-0 lead on the road.
The junior's pick-six was Colgate's first interception returned for a touchdown since November 2023 when Owen Goss took one back 59 yards to the end zone against Georgetown. Price also added four tackles, including three solo stops, in helping the Raiders secure their second consecutive victory.
In addition to his two interceptions, the Ponte Vedra, Fla., native helped Colgate's defense shut out Cornell in the fourth quarter after the Big Red closed within 28-21. Colgate has not allowed a point in the fourth quarter in each of the last two games and three of the last four dating back to Villanova (Sept. 6).
Price becomes Colgate's third Patriot League weekly honoree this season – and the second Defensive Player of the Week selection. He joins Treyvhon Saunders and Tymir Wynn, who both earned honors after the first game of the season against Monmouth, as weekly honorees this season.
