Raiders Set Four Pool Records, Win 10 Events in Road Victory

WORCESTER, Mass. – Led by three individual wins by MG King, Colgate continued its momentum by setting four pool records and taking gold in 10 events to beat Holy Cross, 159.5-140.5, on Friday afternoon inside the Hart Center Arena.

Four pool records were shattered in Colgate's first win at Holy Cross since the 2017-18 season:

COACH PRETRE'S COMMENTS

"Both teams are extremely broken down and I've never seen us do this well on the road since I've been here at Colgate. The team energy was incredible. Total team efforts from both sides. I couldn't be prouder of our team today, and as we move forward into the championship season, we're going to be ready."

HOW IT HAPPENED

The 400 Medley Relay team of King, Hofer, Collins, and Art set the tone with a dominant victory, besting Holy Cross' closest quartet by nearly two full seconds.

King's three individual triumphs led the way, followed by Collins with two. Brooke Garretson, Lucy Art and Natalie Hofer each brought home a gold along with the 400 Free Relay team of Elizabeth Rainey, Garretson, Collins, and Art.

King followed the medley gold with first place in the 100 Back, clocking in at 58.70 – more than a second faster than their nearest competitor. King dominated again in the 200 Back with a pool-record time of 2:03.15, five seconds faster than their nearest competitor. King, a sophomore, captured their third win in the 200 IM, turning in a time of 2:09.60.

Collins shattered the pool record in the 100 Fly, securing a first-place time of 57.60 to outpace her nearest competitor by three seconds. Collins, who played a part in four total victories including two relays, also took individual gold in the 200 Fly with a time of 2:10.47.

Garretson returned to her All-Patriot League form by taking the top of the podium of the 100 Yard Breaststroke, clocking in at 1:08.70 to just edge teammate Hofer (1:08.85). Hofer came away with the crown later in the meet, taking first place in the 200 Breast with a winning time of 2:31.25.

Art, another Colgate returner coming off All-Patriot League honors, found success in the 50 Free. She turned in an impressive time of 24.43, clocking in just ahead of her nearest competitor from Holy Cross (24.77) to take gold.
