Nardone's Four RBIs Spark Colgate to 6-3 Win

Raiders defeat Niagara to take two-out-of-three at the UMBC Invitational

BALTIMORE, Md.  — Adrienne Nardone picked up four RBIs and launched a go-ahead three-run home run in Colgate's 6-3 win over Niagara in the UMBC Invitational finale. Quinn Livesay and Elizabeth Nitka also chipped in two hits each, while Maya Servedio tossed five scoreless innings in her second-straight win.

"After falling behind early we did a great job fighting back," head coach Marissa Lamison-Myers said. "Maya kept giving our offense chances and with her keeping the game locked we were able to pull ourselves back into the game."

Bailey Misken earned the start on Sunday and only allowed one hit through the first nine batters, but found herself in a jam when back-to-back base hits provided the Purple Eagles a three-run cushion after two innings.

Servedio took the reins in the circle to open the third, only allowing one hit and stranding one runner on base in the top of the frame. Nora Megenity kept the momentum going with her first-career triple and the Raiders' first hit of the afternoon, but the top of Colgate's lineup could not bring her home.

The Raiders' bats came to life in the fourth, with Nardone singling home Shelton and crossing the plate herself on a Nitka base hit which brought the Raiders to within one.

Nardone continued her monster game with a three-run home run in the fifth frame, her third long ball of the season. Defending a two-run lead, Servedio retired Niagara in order to put Colgate six outs away from victory.

Rachel Carney was not done, though, adding an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI single that scored Nitka from second base.

Servedio easily handled the Purple Eagles in the away half of the seventh, ending her outing with five innings pitched, two hits allowed, no earned runs, and three strikeouts to help seal the Raiders' second-straight win.
