Colgate Athletics named Marissa Lamison-Myers as the Raiders’ head softball coach in July 2017.
Lamison-Myers has continued to build a successful program both on and off the field. She has mentored four All-Patriot League First Team and 13 Second Team selections in addition to two Patriot League Rookies of the Year.
Pairing with success on the field, Lamison-Myers has guided the development of 10 Academic All-Patriot League honorees, nine NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes, and several Academic Honor Roll members. Colgate has landed at least two Academic All-League picks four separate times during Lamison-Myers' tenure.
Offensively, Colgate under Lamison-Myers has ranked in the top four in the Patriot League in batting average five separate seasons, including two campaigns where the Raiders ranked third in batting average. Colgate has led the league in home runs three times, including 2025 when the Raiders bashed 37 long balls in 49 contests.
Colgate has advanced to the Patriot League tournament three times during Lamison-Myers' tenure, including the 2021 season when the Raiders secured their first postseason victory since 2015 with their 4-3 triumph over Army as the No. 3 seed behind a 16-15-1 overall record and 13-9-1 mark in conference play.
Colgate increased its win total in each of the first two seasons under Lamison-Myers and was on pace to continue that trend in 2020 before the season ended abruptly. Colgate jumped out to a 10-5 overall record, its best 15-game start since 2010, before finishing 12-8 overall. The 12 wins were the second most in the Patriot League at the end of the season.
The Raiders in 2020 led the league by a wide margin in home runs (19), with the next closest team at 10. Colgate also led the Patriot League in walks (65) and ranked second in the Patriot League in hits (133), triples (4), and runs scored (88) with a .245 team batting average. Defensively, the Raiders ranked second in the league in ERA (2.74), led by freshman Bailey Misken's 1.02 clip in 68.1 innings pitched.
Colgate in 2019 posted its most wins (25) since 2011, finishing 25-27 overall and 8-10 in league play to advance to the Patriot League tournament for the first time since 2015. The Raiders led the Patriot League in home runs (31) and ranked 32nd nationally in doubles per game (1.52).
In 2019, Lamison-Myers guided three All-League selections, highlighted by Meghan Romero’s First Team At-Large honor. Successful both on the field and in the classroom, Lamison-Myers mentored a pair of Academic All-League student-athletes in Virginia Irby and Jordan Miller, while the Raiders boasted a league-high 17 student-athletes on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
Program Growth in First Year at the Helm in 2018
The Raiders remained in contention for a Patriot League Tournament berth during the final regular-season series of the year during Lamison-Myers’ first season at the helm in 2018. She mentored a pair of All-Patriot League picks in Holly Geranen (first team) and Virginia Irby (second team), as well as two Academic All-League selections (Irby and Kyle Griswold). Under Lamison-Myers’ guidance, Geranen became the first Raider to earn All-ECAC accolades in 15 years.
Prior to Colgate
Lamison-Myers came to Colgate after a four-year stint at Bucknell as the top assistant to the 2015 Patriot League Coach of the Year. Prior to her time with the Bison, Lamison-Myers was a member of a national championship coaching staff at Tufts.
She helped coach the Bison to three Patriot League Tournament appearances, two second-place finishes and a fourth-place finish during her four years at Bucknell. The Bison finished 35-20 in 2015, marking the all-time winningest team in program history as head coach Bonnie Skrenta garnered Patriot League Coach of the Year honors.
Lamison-Myers worked with the Bison pitchers and catchers during her first two years in Lewisburg. She mentored Amanda Fazio, the program’s all-time leader in strikeouts and innings pitched. Over her past two seasons, Lamison-Myers transitioned into the third base coaching role, playing a crucial role in the Bison’s in-game strategies.
Prior to her time at Bucknell, Lamison-Myers was a two-year assistant at Tufts where she helped lead the Jumbos to the 2013 NCAA Division III National Championship. The squad won back-to-back NESCAC titles as well as regional championships. Tufts earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament during both of her years with the team, finishing fifth in 2012 before winning the national championship in 2013. Lamison-Myers was a member of the staff that was selected as the NFCA National Coaching Staff of the Year in 2013 and Regional Coaching Staff of the Year in both 2012 and 2013.
In addition to her collegiate coaching experience, Lamison-Myers holds high school and club experience. She was the assistant coach at Penn-Trafford High School in 2011 as well as the co-head coach of the Pittsburgh Predator travel team for 10 summers.
Playing Career
Lamison-Myers was a four-year starting catcher at Clarion University. She ranks fourth all-time on the Clarion career walks list. A Harrison City, Pa. native, she graduated from Clarion with honors in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and concentrations in coaching and sports management. Lamison-Myers also completed several post-baccalaureate classes while at Tufts.
