Box Score SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Colgate women's tennis notched a 2-0 record this past weekend after comfortably defeating Merrimack, 6-1, inside the Drumlins Country Club on Saturday night. With the win, Head Coach Bobby Pennington logged his 300th career victory at the helm of Colgate's men's and women's tennis programs. 

"Three-hundred is definitely a big number and it shows how long I've been grinding here," Pennington said. "Credit to all my former and current players, past and current assistants, as well as past and current administrations. There have been a lot of ups and downs but the culture remains unique unlike any other, as well as logistics, swagger, tradition, and winning. I try to maximize all that is given to us and compete at the highest possible level. Kudos to the ladies for getting the win tonight and it was extra special that my wife, Jenny, and three kids Mia, Clifford, and Parker were there to witness this."

The record-setting win was a near-perfect sweep, as Colgate only dropped one match in the duel. 

The onslaught began when Raiders swept the doubles point with triumphs from Amelia Galin/Carina Cristobal (6-4), Gigi Bohan/Sophia Montero (6-2), and Eliza Podlas/Avery Isaac (6-3). 

The Raiders continued to dominate the duel in singles play after Bohan (6-2, 6-0) and Addie Eklund (6-1, 6-3) won their respective matches to push Colgate's lead to three with five matches to play. 

Galin easily handled her opponent for her second-straight win in second singles to clinch the match for Colgate. Montero also tacked on her second-consecutive victory on singles one while Podlas poured on another point with a win in the fifth slot.

The Raiders hit the road for a pair of matchups in Pittsburgh. They will face off against Duquesne at 3 p.m. on Saturday before a bout with Saint Francis at noon on Sunday.
