CANTON, N.Y. — St. Lawrence scored four straight goals, including the overtime winner, to defeat Colgate 4-3 Friday evening at Appleton Arena.
Ethan Manderville scored twice for the Raiders, marking his second-straight two-goal performance in addition to dishing out an assist. The fifth-year also found the back of the net for the fourth consecutive game and has six goals total in that period.
Daniel Panetta also logged a three-point performance with a goal and two assists.
"We are slowly, sometimes painfully slowly, learning to play with a lead. Unfortunately, we did not close out this game when we had the opportunity and snatched defeat from the jaws of victory," said head coach Mike Harder.
The Saints won it 40 seconds into the extra period when Tyler Cristall put in his second of the contest. SLU sent it to OT knotted at 3-3 after scoring an extra attacker goal off the stick of Drake Burgin with 1:49 remaining in regulation. Cristall had made it a one-goal game at the 10:42 mark of the third after Reilly Moran got SLU on the board six minutes into the second, making it 3-1.
Manderville notched his second of the contest five and a half minutes into the middle frame to extend his team's advantage to 3-0. Panetta handed the puck off to
Reid Irwin, who skated to center ice and ripped a shot that Manderville cleaned up on the rebound.
Colgate potted a pair of goals in the opening period to take a 2-0 lead. Manderville got his first just 1:10 into the game.
Jake Schneider passed behind the net to Panetta, who wrapped around the goal and fired one that hit off the goalie and landed at the stick of Manderville, who finished it home.
The Raiders held an 11-3 advantage in shots at the first intermission, limiting the Saints chances.
Panetta doubled Colgate's lead at the 8:52 mark of the first. Manderville took the puck away from a SLU player in the neutral zone before skating down the ice on a two-on-one break, then dishing a short pass to Panetta for an easy shot.
Carter Gylander made 26 saves in goal.
