Haagensen and Mensah Break School Records

Both Men's and Women's Teams Finish 2nd of 4

HAMILTON Colgate hosted the Class of 32 Invitational in Stanford Field House Saturday, finishing second of four teams in both men's and women's team rankings.

COACH FRANCE'S COMMENTS

"Today was a fantastic day to sharpen up for our conference next week and welcome many alumni and families back to campus. Thrilled with the performances today with another record breaking weekend by Melinda Haagensen in the pole vault and first year record by Kwadjo Mensah in the 60m. Excited to get the championship season underway."

WOMEN

Melinda Haagensen broke her own school record in the pole vault for the third time this season with a vault of 3.75m. The first year won the pole vault ahead of teammate Elizabeth Driscoll who finished second.

Colgate swept the mile run finishing first, second and third. Frances Munger finished first crossing the finish line at 5:38.72. Maddox Miller came in second and Mia Burton finished third.

Kiran George won the 60m hurdles finishing at 9.19 seconds.

Grace Kwitek won the high jump event with a leap of 1.56m, edging out teammate Sonia Erbe who finished second in the event. Kwitek finished second in the 60m dash with a time of 8.41 seconds. The sophomore also finished third in the 200m dash.

MEN

Kwadjo Mensah broke the first-year record in the 60m dash with a time of 7.11 seconds. The first year won the event ahead of teammate Simon Connors by .07 seconds. Mensah finished second in the 200m dash crossing the finish line at 23.70 seconds.

Colgate swept the mile run finishing first through sixth in the event. Sam Ash finished first with a time of 4:27.16. Fellow Raider Owen McMorrow finished second, crossing seven seconds behind Ash. Jackson Vogel came third while Andrew Sullivan, William Crounse, and Asim Hakim-Florian finished fourth, fifth and sixth.

Finn Kosich and Jack Gabrielle finished first and second respectively in the 800m event finishing just .31 seconds apart.

Jedidiah Guenthner won the long jump event with a leap of 6.25m.

Arison Cruz finished third in the 400m dash.

Colgate ramps up for the Patriot League Indoor Championships next weekend in Boston, Mass. The Championships will take place Saturday, Feb. 24 and Sunday, Feb. 25.
