PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Colgate men's and women's swimming and diving teams wrapped up the four-day Bruno Invite with a strong finish on Sunday inside the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center.
The women's team remained in fifth place for the second consecutive day, finishing with 783.5 total points. The men's team took sixth place with 383.5 total points. Brown, hosting its annual Bruno Invite, earned first-place team finishes on the men's and women's side.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The women's team picked up five top-10 finishes on Sunday, including a podium finish for MG King who took third place in the 200 Back with a time of 1:57.17. King clocked in two seconds faster than their preliminary time to earn a third-place finish in the event.
Lucy Art continued her success in the 100 Free, touching the wall in 50.19 which was good for fifth overall and just .19 seconds behind the fourth-place finisher from Brown.
Audrey Collins and Dana Witte brought home top-10 finishes in the 200 Fly and 1650 Freestyle, respectively. Collins placed seventh in the A Final with a time of 2:03.17 while Witte clocked in at 17:31.52 to land in ninth.
Natalie Hofer finished just outside of the top 10 in 11th with a time of 2:19.83 in the 200 Breast, just ahead of her teammate Regan Hau who placed 13th in the same event with a time of 2:22.35.
Elizabeth Rainey raced the 100 Free in 51.59, good for a 13th-place finish and fifth in the B Final. Brooke Garretson found success in the same event, winning the C Final and placing 17th overall with a time of 51.80.
The 400 Medley Relay team shined for the women, with Rainey, King, Garretson, and Art leading the Raiders to a fourth-place time of 3:26.80 – just two seconds off a podium finish.
On the men's team, Jack Schurtz-Ford took home a 13th place finish in the 100 Free to highlight the individual finishes on Sunday. The sophomore secured a time of 45.67. Will Hill competed in the same event and placed 15th overall with a time of 45.98.
First-year Michael Granin also earned a 13th-place finish – clocking in at 2:03.88 in the 200 Breast. Another first-year Henry Newhall won the C Final in the same event, finishing 17th overall with a time of 2:03.78 – almost two seconds faster than his prelim time.
