Takeaways from Colgate's Split at RIT

Raiders start six-game home stand this Thursday versus Post

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Another back-and-forth series for Colgate women's hockey included career milestones, more power play goals and the top line continuing its early season dominance on the road. For the second time this year, the Raiders left their home barn for a non-conference weekend series, this time staying instate and playing just two hours away from Hamilton.

A two-game battle along I-90 West ended with Colgate women's hockey splitting its series at RIT. After a dominant 5-1 win to open the series Friday night, the Raiders fell in a 4-2 to close the series.

Here are some highlight moments and takeaways from the weekend series against the Tigers.

TAKEAWAYS
Senior goalie Hannah Murphy picked up her 50th career win in the series opener after a 5-1 victory over the Tigers. The milestone put her in third place for the program's all-time winningest goalies, behind Kayle Osborne ('24) and Julia Vandyk ('19).

Murphy has a .919 save percentage so far this season, stopping 136 shots through five games. First-year goalie Farah Walker made her collegiate debut in the second game of the RIT series, making 30 saves against the Tigers during Saturday's loss.

After a hot start to the Raiders' power play unit, Colgate scored big-time goals in even strength. During the series, four of Friday's five goals were scored during 5-on-5 hockey. The power play unit showed up in Saturday's game, with both goals scored on a woman advantage.

Junior forward Elyssa Biederman scored one goal and earned two assists over the weekend. She's scored a goal in three of the last five games, and earned points in all but one game this season — leading the team with eight points through six games.

The Raiders had the higher face off percentage in both games, winning the battles 31-20 on Friday and 39-23 on Saturday.

Kaltounkova, Sara Stewart and Neena Brick led Colgate's percentage, with the fifth year center winning 21, Stewart had 19 wins and Brick had a team-leading 22 wins over both games. Colgate's face off percentage increased to 53% this season.
