Women’s Swim and Dive Named to Moving Up Rankings

Colgate improves by an index of 32 championship points during the 2022-23 season

HAMILTON – Colgate women's swimming and diving was recognized by SwimCloud as one of the most improved championship rankings in Division I during the 2022-23 season. The Raiders improved on an index of 32 points and ninth overall.

This past season was one for the books for Colgate as the women's team scored 628.32 championship points, the highest since 2012-13. The women also scored the most points for the program at the Patriot League Championships since 2016, with 202.5. The freshman class made their mark on the season, crushing four first-year records to lead the Raiders to this historic season.

At the league tournament, the women's 400-yard free relay made of Brooke Garretson, Elizabeth Rainey, Audrey Collins, and Jordan Hurt grabbed fifth place with a final time of 3:25.66, the sixth fastest time in school history. The quartet's time and placement were also the quickest and highest since 2015.

The women's young diving squad made a name for themselves in the conference. Freshman Kate Hoover finished her first season in the pool with two first-place finishes, three second place, and two third places. Fellow first-year Ella Olafsson was named Patriot League Diver of the Week back on Nov. 15, 2022, to go along with one first-place finish, five in second place, and four third-place finishes.

While Colgate's men's team did not land a spot on CloudSwim's rankings, that did not mean the team didn't make huge strides during the 2022-23 season. The men's team won their first meet since 2019-20 against Hamilton College and broke 10 first-year records, three school records.
