ROME, N.Y. — Colgate men's rowing swept the Founder's Cup Saturday, winning all five races it competed in.
The Raiders' varsity eight, second varsity eight, and varsity four boats raced against Hamilton, Ithaca, and Marist on the Erie Canal.
Colgate's 1V8 won its heat by edging out Marist by just under six seconds, posting a time of 6:00.9. The Red Foxes logged a time of 6:06.0.
The Raiders then advanced to the 'A' final, facing off against Ithaca, which defeated Hamilton in its heat. Colgate cruised to victory in the final, coming in at 5:53.0 and over 24 seconds faster than the Bombers' time of 6:17.6.
The second varsity eight boat also defeated Marist in its heat, logging a time of 6:06.2 and winning by just under 11 seconds as the Red Foxes crossed the finish line in 6:17.6. Colgate then advanced to the 'A' final, where it raced against Ithaca again and registered a winning-time of 6:05.5.
In the varsity four race, Colgate claimed first with a time of 6:54.4. The Raiders beat out the second-place boat from Ithaca by 28 seconds, followed by Hamilton, which posted a time of 7:59.5.
UP NEXT
Colgate is off until May 12, when it heads to Pennsauken, N.J., for the two-day-long Dad Vail Regatta.
