Field Hockey Announces Incoming Class

Colgate Adds Seven Student-Athletes for 2023 Season

HAMILTON Colgate field hockey has announced its seven incoming team members that will be joining the program this fall for the 2023 season.

"I am really excited to welcome in such a talented group of first years. They play at a very competitive level and will be ready to make an immediate impact in our program. This spring our team has connected on a whole new level and our incoming class compliments our team," said head coach April Cornell-DeAngelis 

The Raiders' Class of 2027 includes players from five states who will come to Hamilton after accomplished high school careers that include multiple all-state, all-region, and all-conference honors. They have won many state, region, and conference championships and have also had successful club careers.  

Additionally, the seven players have succeeded off the field with their hard work in the classroom and in their communities.

The members of the class are listed below in alphabetical order.

Hayley Campbell
Goalkeeper
Harrisburg, Pa. / Susquehanna Township


Before Colgate
Campbell played four years of varsity field hockey at Susquehanna Township High School…she logged a 0.67 goals-against average and 27 shutouts during her high school career….as a senior, she posted a 0.60 GAA and 10 shutouts, helping the Indians win their most games in program history and make a run to the state playoffs for the first time…Campbell was a three-time Mid-Penn Conference All Star Team selection (2020-2022), and earned her team's Defensive Player of the Year Award as a senior (2022)…Campbell also played club for Central Penn Field Hockey, helping the team qualify for the National Indoor Championships three straight years, and also won multiple club championships...academically she earned Distinguished Honor Roll every year and was a member of the National Honor Society.

Family: Daughter of Heather and Scott Campbell…has two sisters, Alexis and Peyton.

Annie Lake
Defender
Wilmette, Ill. / New Trier

Before Colgate

A three-year varsity team member and starter at New Trier High School, Lake helped the Trevians win back-to-back Illinois State Field Hockey Association championships (2021, 2022) and claim an undefeated season in 2020…Lake earned all-state second team honors as a senior (2022) and was also a two-time all-conference team honoree (2021, 2022)...she served as team captain during her final season…Lake played club for Windy City Field Hockey…she helped the team qualify for the National Club Championships three times (2019, 2021, 2022), placing as high as fifth twice…Lake also helped her team qualify for the National Indoor Tournament three straight years (2019-2021), including winning a pool championship in 2021…she played at the National Field Hockey Festival for Windy City's U19 Fire team…in the classroom, Lake was a four-year Honor Roll student, a 2022 Illinois State Scholar All-Academic Team selection, and a member of the French National Honor Society.

Family: Daughter of Margaret and Peerce Lake…has three sisters, Elizabeth, Maggie, and Evie…sister Maggie is a 2020 Colgate grad who also played field hockey for the Raiders.

Rohlfing played three seasons of varsity field hockey at Academy of Notre Dame de Namur and helped guide the Irish to an Inter-Academic League co-championship in 2022…she racked up All-Main Line Honorable Mention accolades during her senior season (2022) …Rohlfing scored her first career goal as a defender on senior day…she also played club for WC Eagles and helped the team qualify for the National Indoor Tournament and win its pool in 2022…academically, she earned Distinguished Honor Roll all four years of high school, got named to the NFHCA National Academic Squad, and was a member of the National Honor Society.

Alli Troth
Forward / Midfield

Before Colgate

Troth was a three-year varsity starter at Central Bucks High School East, notching 18 goals and five assists in her final two seasons with the Patriot, including a team-leading 14 goals to go along with four assists as a senior….she found the back of the cage in 10 of the team's 14 games on her way to earning Suburban One League Second Team honors and Team MVP (2022)…served as team captain during her final season…Troth helped guide the Patriot to the state semifinals in 2020, which included winning the Suburban One League Championship and the District 1 3A championship….she also earned MVP of the freshman team in 2019…Troth played club for FCS Falcons and helped her team go undefeated in its pool at the 2023 NIT Qualifiers….in the classroom, Troth got named to the PHSFHCA All-Academic Team...got named an NFHCA High School Scholar of Distinction in 2021…Troth also earned the Scholastic Honor Award, President's Award for Educational Excellence, Holicong Scholar, and Excellence in Ceramics in 2020…was a member of the National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, and the National Art Honor Society.

Lauren Widdowson

Before Colgate

Widdowson played four years of varsity field hockey at Garrison Forest School, helping the Grizzlies win two IAAM A Conference championships (2019, 2022)…she earned a spot on the IAAM Field Hockey All-Conference Team, A Conference as a senior (2022)…served as team captain during her final season…also helped the team to an IAAM runner-up finish in 2021….played club for Freedom Field Hockey…she helped her team win the USA Field Hockey Sunshine Showcase (2023)… in 2022 Widdowson's team won the USA U19 Regional Club and Junior Premier Outdoor U19 Elite championship…also won a U16 Regional Championship (2021) and helped her team to a pair of first place pool results at the National Indoor Tournament (2020)…she also won another two U16 Junior Premier League Championships (2019, 2020)…was named an NFHCA Scholar of Distinction.

Before Colgate

Williams played four seasons of varsity field hockey at Floyd E. Kellam High School and recorded 21 points as a senior with five goals and 11 assists…she helped the Knights claim two Region 6A championships and state runner-up finishes (2019, 2020-21)…earned Class 6 Second Team All-State and Class 6A First Team All-Region honors as a senior (2022)…Williams is also a three-time Class 6A Second Team All-Region selection (2019-2021)…she served as team captain during both her junior and senior seasons...earned Kellam's Sportsmanship Award (2019), Team Academic Award (2019, 2020-21), and Coaches Award (2020-21, 2021)…she played club for TCOYO Hockey and helped the team finish third at the Regional Club Championship…was a member of the National Honor Society and the National Math Honor Society…also won the 2022 Jefferson Book Award.

A three-year varsity team member at Oak Knoll School, Willis finished her high school career having tallied 69 points with 29 goals and 11 assists…she notched 35 points with 14 goals and seven assists as a senior…during her final season, Willis earned All-Union County Second Team and All-Union/Essex Conference Honorable Mention accolades…she was named All-Union County First Team, All-Union/Essex Conference Second Team, and All Non-Public Second Team as a junior and was also named to the NJ.com list of players to watch…Willis helped her team win two-straight state championships (2020, 2021), three-straight conference championships (2020-2022), and one TOC Championship (2020)..also helped the Royals finish as state runners-up in 2022…played club for New Heights and helped the team qualify for the Regional Club Championship (2021-22)…in the classroom, she was an Honor Roll student.
