Richardson Named Mid-Major Player of the Year Finalist

Patriot League Tournament MVP Among Finalists for Top Honor

College Insider Release

HAMILTON – Tucker Richardson's historic season continues with his recognition as a finalist for the Lou Henson National Mid-Major Player of the Year, announced by College Insider.

Richardson was named to the mid-season watch list for the national honor and that was before breaking the program's assists and steals records en route to sweeping the Patriot League major awards with Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, and Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Richardson, the league's Rookie of the Year in 2018-19, is the first player in Patriot League history to earn all four major awards. One of the most decorated players in the league's history, Richardson is the only Patriot League men's basketball player to record 1,700 points, 700 rebounds, and 600 assists.

The Flemington, N.J., native has been an integral part of Colgate's four Patriot League championships, four NCAA tournaments, and every 20-win season in program history. He topped it off with Patriot League Tournament MVP honors after posting a triple-double in the championship game with 14 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists, the program's first triple-double since 1997 and the first player nationally to record a triple-double in a conference title game in more than two decades.

The recipient of the 2023 award will be announced during the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship in Houston.
