CLINTON, N.Y. – Lucy Art,
MG King and
Ellie Sundin all won a pair of events to lift the Colgate women's swimming & diving team past Hamilton, 131-106, Friday evening at Bristol Pool.
Colgate won nine events in total to knock off the hosts in the Raiders' final dual before the New Year. Aside from Art, King and Sundin's victories,
Olivia Schlegel,
Adrienne Hagins and
Natalie Hofer all won events on the day.
King notched the first win of the day for the visitors, as they raced to the wall in 1:58.42 in the 200-yard freestyle.
Elizabeth Rainey finished just over a second behind her teammate to claim another four team points in the event. The 500-yard freestyle was King's second victory on the day, as they flew to a near four-second victory with a mark of 5:19.09.
Freestyle events were generous for the Raiders against the Continentals, as Art's first win of the day came in the 50-yard freestyle. She got to the wall in just 24.38 for the quickest time and was trailed by less than a second from teammate,
Brooke Garretson. Just like King, Art's second victory of the day was in another distance of the freestyle, as she was the victor at 100 yards. Her pace of 53.14 was the best of the race and helped the Raiders to another nine points.
Sundin was nothing less than dominant in her two victories. She totaled a score of 269.50 in the one-meter dive to win by over 70 points, then followed it up with another commanding victory in the three-meter dive. She put up a score of 249.45 in her encore performance, which was good enough to win by more than 50 points.
Schlegel was victorious in the 200-yard IM when she touched the wall in 2:14.28. It earned nine points in the team total and
Meg Erickson added another four when she finished just moments behind her teammate for second place with a time of 2:14.65.
Adrienne Hagins' victory was in the middle of the Raiders' six-race winning streak midway through the dual, as she had the quickest time in the 100-yard butterfly. She touched the wall first at 1:00.08 and was just .45 in front of fellow Raider
Alexandra Mehos, who claimed second.
Hofer secured the final win of the day for Colgate and she notched it in the 100-yard breaststroke. She had the top time by a margin of .28 with a pace of 1:08.72.
