COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colgate fifth-year defender
Allyson Simpson was selected as one of 26 players that will represent Team USA in the 2023-24 Rivalry Series, announced by USA Hockey today. She is only the second active player in Colgate women's hockey history to join a world roster and will face off against teammate
Danielle Serdachny from the Canadian side in the two-game series.
Simpson makes her debut for the U.S. Women's National Team after most recently taking the international stage as a Team USA captain during the Collegiate Select Series. The three-game series saw the Americans sweep the Canadians in Lake Placid, with Simpson playing in all three contests and accumulating two assists.
Back in 2017 and 2018, the Colgate assistant captain competed on the Team USA U18 roster in back-to-back seasons. She contributed a goal and an assist in 2018 which helped the U.S. to a gold medal at the IIHF World Championship in Russia.
Simpson and the rest of Team USA will continue the Rivalry Series against Team Canada on Dec. 14 and Dec. 16 in Kitchener and Sarnia, Ontario, respectively. The Americans already boast a 2-0 lead in the series after defeating Canada in Arizona and Los Angeles earlier this month.
