EASTON, Pa. — A three-goal second quarter by Lafayette helped the Leopards pull away and seal a 6-0 victory over Colgate Saturday.
Goalkeeper
Claire van Kempen tallied a career-best 11 saves in the game. The sophomore stopped five shots in the third quarter, including a pair of saves following a penalty corner and back-to-back stops with just over six minutes remaining.
The Leopards got on the board with 16 seconds left in the first to take a 1-0 lead. Lafayette then notched two goals in just over three minutes at the start of the second before tallying one more before the half to hold a 4-0 lead. The Leopards then recorded a goal in the third and the fourth to secure the win.
Colgate had three shots in the first quarter but could not put one in the cage.
Sarah Killcommons registered the Raiders' first shot of the game with eight minutes to play when she ripped one that got blocked by a defender.
Killcommons had another shot blocked off a penalty corner, and a follow-up shot by
Ahria Dhillon also got blocked. Colgate had two other penalty corners in the first 15 minutes that it could not capitalize on.
In the fourth, the Raiders earned their fourth corner of the game.
Charlotte Hamilton fired a shot off it, but it landed wide of the cage.
