HAMILTON – After posting back-to-back double-doubles in a 2-0 week for the Colgate men's basketball team,
Tucker Richardson has been named the Patriot League Player of the Week for the second time this season.
Richardson filled the stat sheets averaging 15.0 points, 10.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 2.0 steals per game in guiding the Raiders to wins over Boston University and Lafayette.
The fifth-year senior guard scored 15 points on 7-of-12 from the field and matched his career high with 11 rebounds in Colgate's 64-51 victory over Boston U last Monday. He recorded six assists and added three steals in one of the team's best defensive games of the season.
Richardson scored 15 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in Colgate's 69-57 win over Lafayette on Saturday at Cotterell Court. He added four assists and anchored the defense that held its second consecutive opponent below 60 points with one block and one steal.
Richardson, the Patriot League Preseason Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, leads the league in assists per game (5.0) and steals per game (2.2) while landing inside the top five in scoring (14.5).
This is the second weekly award of the season for the Flemington, N.J., native, who earned Player of the Week laurels after scoring a career-high 30 points in Colgate's win over Syracuse. Richardson is Colgate's second consecutive Player of the Week after Keegan Records earned the honor last week on the heels of back-to-back 18-point performances.
