HAMILTON — UAlbany scored a pair of goals in each quarter en route to an 8-1 win over Colgate on Friday at Tyler's Field.
Ella Murphy scored the Raiders' lone goal in the third quarter. The junior picked up a loose ball and fired a shot from long distance that beat the Great Danes' goalie after she came off her line.
The Raiders had three penalty corners in the first three minutes of the game, but could not convert on any of them.
Amanda Allen and Murphy each recorded shots on two of the corners, but Murphy put hers wide and Allen's shot got saved by the goalie.
The Great Danes got on the board early as just five minutes in Elaina Burchell fired a shot past
Anna Unger to make it 1-0. Isabella Del Vecchio scored with two and a half minutes remaining in the first to make it a two-goal game.
UAlbany added two goals from Lusia Knapp in the second, as the Great Danes took a 4-0 lead into the half.
Charlotte Tugs and Lauren Willis both found the back of the cage in the third, and Alison Smisdom finished off the Great Danes' scoring with a pair of goals in the fourth.
Murphy recorded two more shots in the second half, one of which came off another penalty corner opportunity at the end of the third.
Tyler Argilagos also tallied one shot that got saved by the Great Danes' goalie.
Colgate logged seven shots in the game, including six on goal. The Raiders also had five penalty corners.
Unger played in goal most of the first three quarters before
Claire van Kempen came in and made her Colgate debut at the end of the third. Unger tallied three saves, while van Kempen had one.
