LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. — Julia Jamesley scored the Raiders' lone goal in a 5-1 loss at Rider on Sunday afternoon.
Jamesley's goal came in the fourth quarter with just 1:20 remaining in the game. She found the back of the cage from close range off an assist from
Mari Kniezewski.
A pair of quick goals in the first quarter got the Broncos off to a hot start. Just under a minute in, Abby Hartwell played a ball into the shooting circle that Valeria Perales was able to tap into the goal. Sierra Giuliano scored on a penalty stroke 42 seconds later to make it 2-0 Rider.
The Raiders had one shot in the first quarter off the stick of
Ella Murphy, but she got denied by the Broncos' goalie.
Perales completed a hat trick after she scored two more in the second, making it 4-0 Rider. In the third quarter, Hartwell scored to extend the Broncos' lead to five.
Amanda Allen was presented with a scoring chance for Colgate in the third, but she could not get her shot past the goalkeeper.
The Raiders had a strong offensive performance in the fourth quarter, firing five shots. This included three from Murphy and two from Allen, as the team finished with a total of seven shots, including six on goal.
Colgate also had three penalty corner opportunities in the final quarter and a total of five in the game.
Anna Unger and
Cammy Foster split time in the cage. Unger got the start and recorded two saves. Foster made her Colgate debut in the second half and put on a strong performance, tallying six saves and allowing just one goal in 30 minutes of work.
Rachel Alderfer tallied two defensive saves for the Raiders.

"Today's game was a good learning experience for our team. Going down three goals early in the game is tough and I believe we made some really great adjustments in the second half. We never had any doubt in our ability and we grew stronger together and leaned on each other. Although the outcome is not what we wanted we will be better from playing Rider on their field turf."
