Herbst Headlines Softball All-Patriot Honors

Herbst, Nardone Garner Postseason Awards

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Jillian Herbst and Adrienne Nardone represented the Colgate softball team with postseason All-Patriot League honors, announced Tuesday afternoon.

Herbst was named Rookie of the Year and garnered First Team All-Patriot League honors at second base, while Nardone was named to the Second Team as the designated player. Herbst's headline honoree marks Colgate's first Rookie of the Year since Tera Vaughn in 2011.

Herbst Earns Top Rookie Honor
Herbst was a six-time Rookie of the Week selection and carried a run of three straight weekly awards into the final week of the season. The first-year utility player leads the Raiders in hits (56), batting average (.371), on-base percentage (.411), and slugging percentage (.523).

During the regular season, Herbst posted a team-best 15 multi-hit games, including 10 games with two hits. She registered a team-leading .934 OPS with nine doubles, four triples, two home runs, 19 RBIs and 34 runs scored. Her .371 batting average ranks fifth in the Patriot League.

A native of Bradenton, Fla., Herbst started her collegiate career with a 13-game hitting streak and reached base in 17 consecutive games. She racked up a season-high four hits, including her first collegiate home run against Samford, and capped off her decorated regular season with a walk-off single in Colgate's 2-1 victory over Army last Sunday.

Nardone Repeats All-Patriot League Honor
For the second consecutive season, Nardone landed All-Patriot League Second Team laurels as a designated player. She blasted a team-best five home runs in conference play and led the team with a .690 slugging percentage and 1.037 OPS against Patriot League opponents.

Overall for the season, Nardone owns a .253 batting average with 25 hits, five doubles, one triple, and six home runs in 99 at-bats. The junior has appeared in 42 games with 37 starts as the designated player and finished the regular season with five multi-hit performances.

Nardone is one week removed from being the Patriot League Player of the Week after going off the charts in a three-game series at Lehigh. She finished the week 9-for-11 at the plate (.818) and blasted three home runs, seven RBIs, and four runs scored. She added a double, a triple, and two walks en route to a 1.909 slugging percentage and .857 on-base percentage.
