Women's Rowing Opens Season at Murphy Cup Regatta

RESULTS

PHILADELPHIA — The Colgate women's rowing team opened its spring season at the Murphy Cup Regatta on Saturday.

The Raiders' varsity 4 finished fourth in its heat with a time of 8:07.85. The boat finished 25 seconds ahead of the next one behind it, which was U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.

Colgate's varsity 8 also placed fourth in its heat finishing the course in 6:50.01, which was 19 seconds ahead of fellow Patriot League member Loyola. In the petite final, the Raiders improved their time finishing in 6:46.32 which was within 10 seconds of boats from Lehigh, Fairfield, Marist, and La Salle.

The second varsity 8 boat placed fifth with a time of 7:08.09, just four seconds behind La Salle.

"I'm pleased with how the team performed today. We have had very little time on the water and today gave us an opportunity to not only row but to race. We have set some large team goals for ourselves this season and the Murphy Cup Regatta helped show us where we are right now and what we still need to do. I am excited to see what we can accomplish over the next six weeks!"

UP NEXT
The Raiders head to Cherry Hill, N.J. next weekend for the Knecht Cup Regatta being held April 9-10.
