Raiders Post Strong Performances at the ECAC Championships

Sophia Manners Runs Lifetime Best by 16 Seconds

BOSTON,MA The two Raider seniors ended their indoor track seasons with great performances at the 45th running of the ECAC Championships held at Boston University.

Sophia Manners entered the meet in pursuit of the indoor 3000 meter school record. Manners dropped over 16 seconds from her previous best performance and ran an incredible race but fell agonizingly short by .02 of a second to narrowly miss the record. She moves to number two all-time in Colgate history.

In the field events, Rachel Schaaf took to the runway in her best event, the triple jump. She also had a strong leap as she went 11.63 meters (38" 2") which was only one centimeter off her indoor season best and just three centimeters from her lifetime indoor best performance.

FROM THE SOURCE
Head Coach Harlis Meaders
"The indoor season officially comes to an end but not before one final attack on the school record board. Having competed in multiple championships, Rachel the veteran in the group led our band of Raiders. Sophia moves to number two in Colgate record books with a great run in the 3000 meters.

Overall, this weekend competing in the IC4A and ECAC Championships showed great improvement in the record books for the 800 meters for the men. Our two first year students, Ben and Cole, indicated our future is looking bright as they both had their best performances of the year with Cole finishing in eighth place.
