Raiders Fall to Army

Catie Lang and Eliza Soutter both net hat tricks for Colgate

HAMILTON, N.Y. – Catie Lang and Eliza Soutter both recorded hat tricks for Colgate on Saturday afternoon against Army West Point at Crown Field at Andy Kerr Stadium, however it was not enough.

The Raiders (2-8, 1-1 PL) fell 20-12 to the Black Knights (8-2, 3-0 PL).

Colgate dented the scoreboard first when Soutter scored less than a minute into the opening quarter, but Army scored the next three goals and didn't look back.

Soutter's three goals improved her season total to 11, while Lang now has 14 goals this season. Kyra Lucey added two goals for Colgate and improved her team-leading goals lead to 15.

Lang and Lucey each recorded two assists on the afternoon for the Raiders.

Colgate won 21 of the 35 draw controls. Cara O'Reilly had 12 of those draws, while Grace Bowers had six. O'Reilly also added her 11 goals of the season.

Army led 7-4 at the end of the first quarter of play and then held a 11-7 lead at intermission. The Black Knights used a 6-1 third quarter to break the game open.

FROM THE SOURCE

Head Coach Kathy Taylor

"Army is always a strong physical team and today was no different. I have stated before, lacrosse is a game of runs and our challenge is always to limit scoring runs. Today we made too many mistakes to stay with them on the scoreboard. Credit to Army as they capitalized on our young errors, but I was proud of the grit we showed, competing hard for the complete game."
