LEWISBURG, Pa. – Colgate trailed 13-9 early in the fourth quarter and battled back to tie the score with just over a minute to play in regulation on Wednesday evening at Graham Field at Holmes Stadium.
However, The Bison (5-5, 2-1 PL) scored with 39 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter and pulled off the 15-14 victory over the Raiders (2-9, 1-2 PL).
Eliza Soutter's third goal of the game with 1:07 left in the fourth was the equalizer to move Colgate and Bucknell to a 14-14.
The Bison scored the first goal of the final quarter less than a minute in and held a 13-9 advantage. The Raiders then rattled off four straight goals to tie the score at 13 apiece. Catie Lang scored two of those goals, while Devon Maillet and Eliza Farriss also scored. Maillet's goal was her third of the game.
Lucy Licata also added a hat trick and Kyra Lucey scored a goal and dished out four assists,
Maillet got Colgate on the board first with a free position goal just a minute into the game. Kyra Lucey doubled the Raiders' lead with an unassisted goal three minutes later.
Bucknell put three straight shots in to take a 3-2 before Lucy Licata scored on an assist from Lucey with 3:25 left in the opening quarter.
The Raiders, who trailed 5-3 after one, found themselves down 8-7 at intermission.
Colgate outshot Bucknell 30-28 and the Raiders dominated the draw controls by a 25-8 advantage.
Grace Bowers and Cara O'Reilly had nine draw controls each, while Maillet had six for the Raiders.
O'Reilly's nine gave her 73 for the season and the new single-season draw control record at Colgate.
