Colgate Press Conference Quotes

MILWAUKEE –
Colgate took part in practice at Fiserv Forum and met the media during an exciting pre-tournament Thursday in Milwaukee. All that's left is a meeting with third-seeded Wisconsin Friday evening in the first round of the NCAA tournament at 9:50 p.m. (Eastern) – the penultimate first-round tip-off in the Midwest Region of year's dance.

13 Notes on Colgate's Matchup with Wisconsin in the NCAA Tournament
The 14th-seeded Raiders enter the tournament on a 15-game winning streak, the third-longest win streak in the country, on the heels of their third Patriot League championship in four seasons. Colgate knocked off second-seeded Navy 74-58 in the title game last Wednesday at Cotterell Court.

SETTING THE SCENE
Colgate (23-11, 16-2 Patriot) meets third-seeded Wisconsin (24-7, 15-5 Big Ten) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday. The Raiders earned a 14 seed for the second consecutive year, matching their highest tournament seed in program history. Colgate enters the game on a 15-game winning streak, the third longest win streak in the nation. Wisconsin is Colgate's first Big Ten matchup since the Raiders visited Penn State Dec. 8, 2018. Colgate and Wisconsin have met just once and it came in head coach Matt Langel's first season at the helm in 2011-12. Wisconsin won that matchup 68-41, but that was just the beginning of something special building in Hamilton.

LAST GAME RECAP
Jack Ferguson for the third consecutive game led the Raiders in scoring with 17 points and top-seeded Colgate knocked off second-seeded Navy 74-58 in the Patriot League championship at Cotterell Court. The Raiders led by as many as 24 before Navy used a 16-0 run to close the gap to  60-54 in the second half. Colgate countered with a 10-0 run down the stretch and pulled away for its second consecutive tournament title. The Raiders never trailed in the game and had five players score in double figures.

BACK-TO-BACK PATRIOT LEAGUE CHAMPS
Colgate claimed its second consecutive Patriot League championship behind wins of 28, 20, and 16 in the conference tournament. The Raiders have won three championships in the last four years and are set to make their sixth overall NCAA Tournament appearance.

LONGEST ACTIVE WIN STREAKS IN THE COUNTRY
Colgate carries a program-record 15-game winning streak into the NCAA Tournament, the third longest win streak in the country. The previous program record was last year's 13 straight wins, which the Raiders carried into the 2020-21 NCAA Tournament.

POCKET JACKS FOR THREE

He scored a career-high 28 points in Colgate's 96-68 win over Bucknell in the quarterfinals. Ferguson averaged 20.7 points and connected on 13-of-16 from the arc in the Patriot League tournament.

Tucker Richardson posted back-to-back 20-point games to close out the regular season. Three of his six career 20-point performances have come in the last eight games, including a career-high 24 points at Holy Cross (2/23). He scored 23 points three days later in the regular season finale against Navy (2/26). Richardson is the only player to record 1,000 career points, 500 rebounds, and 400 assists in a season.

RECORDS COMING INTO HIS OWN
Keegan Records leads the Patriot League in field goal percentage and blocked shots per game. Records has reached double figures in 10 of the last 12 games, including two double-doubles and a pair of 20-point games. Records has four 20-point games this season.

VETERAN BACKCOURT
Colgate's veteran-laden backcourt features three 1,000-point scorers in seniors Ferguson, Richardson, and Nelly Cummings. The three have combined to reach five Patriot League tournament championship games, three 20-win seasons, three regular season titles, and three NCAA tournament bids.

Colgate's overall record stands at 105-47 overall and 66-18 in league play over the last five seasons. The Raiders had only two NCAA tournament appearances prior to 2018-19 and are now making their third trip in four years.

SPREADING THE WEALTH
Five Raiders are averaging double figures this season, led by Cummings (14.5). Colgate has had six different leading scorers in a game this season.

UP NEXT
Friday's winner advances to the second round of the NCAA tournament and will face the winner of the LSU (6)-Iowa State (11) game on Sunday at Fiserv Forum.
