No. 15 Clarkson Takes Down Raiders

Alex Young Scores in Colgate's 4-1 loss

HAMILTON, N.Y.— Alex Young scored in the third period, but the Raiders were unable to cut into No. 15 Clarkson's lead anymore as the Raiders fell 4-1 at the Class of 1965 Arena on Friday.

The Golden Knights scored a goal in each of the first two periods and two in the final one.

Both teams were called for penalties at the 11:37 mark of the opening period. Clarkson's was for embellishment and the Raiders' was for holding. The Golden Knights struck during the four-on-four off a series of quick passes from Zach Tsekos to Noah Beck to Ayrton Martino who ripped a one-timer into the back of the net.

Seven minutes into the second period Clarkson doubled its lead. Martino took the puck away from a Raiders' player and passed it to Zach Tsekos who was able to put a shot past Mitch Benson.

The Raiders had two power-play chances in the period, neither of which they were able to convert on.

Clarkson added two more in the final period. It started six minutes in when Alex Campbell scored off a pass from behind the net from Mathiew Gosselin.

Tsekos then netted his second of the night when Jack Jacome found him for a shot that he finished off to make it 4-0 Golden Knights with 15 and a half minutes left.

Less than a minute later, the Raiders got on the board when Elliott McDermott collected the puck off a face-off win by Josh McKechney. McDermott passed to Colton Young who got free on a breakaway and passed to brother Alex Young who finished his shot from close range.

Colgate had one final power-play chance with four minutes remaining in the game but was unable to cut into the lead.

The Raiders outshot the Golden Knights in the final two periods and finished the game with a 28-22 advantage.

In net, Benson made 22 saves.
