Smith Earns Second Rookie of the Week Honor

First-year coming off career-high 23 points against Cornell

HAMILTON – Braeden Smith capped off non-conference play the same way he started it by earning Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors, announced Monday.

Smith is coming off a career-high 23 points – the most points scored by a Raider freshman since Jordan Burns '21 went for 27 against American in January 2018 – in Colgate's non-conference finale against Cornell last Thursday. Smith finished 9-of-14 from the field and was perfect (5-for-5) from the free throw line with two rebounds, three assists, and three steals.

Coming off his second 20-point game of the season, Smith joins American's Geoff Sprouse and Army's Coleton Benson as a two-time rookie of the week selection. Smith earned the first weekly honor of the season after scoring 20 points in his collegiate debut at Buffalo.

Heading into conference play, the first-year guard is averaging 11 points, 4.4 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 1.2 steals per game.
