Box Score HAMILTON – The third-seeded Colgate men's soccer team fell to sixth-seeded American Saturday night, 3-1, in a tightly contested Patriot League Tournament quarterfinal matchup at Beyer-Small '76 Field.
Saturday's loss ends the Raiders' magical season, as American moves on to face No. 1 Army in the Patriot League semifinals on Tuesday.
Colgate recorded eight shots throughout the night, led by senior
Antonio Ducrot, who tallied three. The Raiders were edged out in total shots 10-8.
Bobby Foose netted the lone goal in the Raiders' loss, scoring his fourth goal in three games.
Mason Pahule added his second assist of the season on the play.
The Eagles struck first, netting one past
Andrew Cooke in the second minute of play.
The Raiders answered back in the 16th minute, as Foose potted his fourth goal in three games off a rocket from outside the box.
In the 70th minute, Colgate received a yellow card resulting in a free kick for the Eagles. From outside the box, American fired one through the Raider defense, potting the go-ahead goal.
Shortly after, the Eagles pounded their third of the night home, firing one in from just inside the box. American led 3-1 with 15 minutes to spare.
The Raiders looked to make a final push in the dying minutes of play, working the ball throughout the entire pitch, but Colgate's aggressive push to even the game fell short as American walked away with the 3-1 win to advance in the Patriot League tournament.
