I liked the idea of a smaller school with a lot of school spirit, and when I stepped on the campus, it was very clear that Colgate was what I was looking for. I also felt like the coaches really care about me as a person and how I develop my character, not just what I brought as a player. I can't wait to experience actual seasons at an amazing campus, even if it may be a little colder than I'm used to!"

The Colgate women's soccer coaches are one of the easiest people to talk to and it's very clear that they care about and have so much respect for their players. I also found the idea of being coached by an all-female coaching staff very intriguing. Not only that, but as soon as I stepped on campus, I immediately felt welcomed and at home. It was such a comfortable atmosphere and it made me realize that Colgate offers the exact environment I want to be in as a student-athlete."

She has always battled for everything that she's gotten, and that makes you excited as a coach to imagine all the ways she will continue pushing herself to get better and better. She loves to be on the ball, she covers so much ground on the defensive side, and she has the added element of being a goal-scorer which is always a great skill to bring to the table. "When I visited Colgate for the first time, I felt that I could really envision myself there. Colgate has a really good balance of high-level, competitive soccer, and great academics which are both very important to me. The team culture is also exactly what I pictured for myself - supportive, fun, and surrounded by your best friends. This, as well as the community and environment, are some of the reasons why I knew that Colgate was where I wanted to be for the next four years."

Coach Hokanson on Ella
"Ella has so much composure and technical skill in her game, she makes the team around her comfortable that they are going to be in a great position to win games. Clean hands, steady feet, and an explosiveness that allows her to play big, Ella has a high ceiling for what she can accomplish at the collegiate level. It will be fun to see how she'll add to our goalkeeping corps with her ability and personality."
