HAMILTON — Ahria Dhillon scored her first collegiate goal, but Colgate fell 5-1 to Lafayette on senior day Saturday at Tyler's Field.
The Raiders honored seniors Anna Unger, Mari Kniezewski, Julia Jamesley and Amanda Allen prior to the game.
Dhillon's goal came with just over three minutes remaining in the game to the cut the Leopard's lead to three. Aaliyah Linfoot inserted a penalty corner, playing the ball to Ella Murphy, who dished a pass to Dhillon for a shot she fired in from distance to make it 4-1.
The Leopards opened the scoring eight minutes into the first quarter off a goal from Lineke Spaans. She intercepted a Colgate pass, dribbled into the shooting circle, and slotted a shot into the cage to put the Leopards up 1-0.
The Raiders recorded one shot in the first quarter off the stick of Grace Schmelzinger, but it went over the goal.
Two and a half minutes into the second, Lafayette doubled its lead. Holly McAndrew passed to Hannah Findlay for a shot she fired into the cage.
McAndrew then scored a goal of her own in the third when she ripped one into the goal off of a penalty corner to make to 3-0 with nine minutes remaining in the third.
Charlotte Hamilton prevented another scoring chance by the Leopards when she made a defensive save at the 4:19 mark of the third.
Colgate had three penalty corners in the final quarter and finally converted on the last one with Dhillon's goal.
The Leopards had another pair of goals in the fourth, with McAndrew and Tara Hamilton each scoring.
