BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Lehigh scored four goals in the second half to defeat Colgate 5-0 in the Raiders' season finale Saturday.
The Mountain Hawks opened the scoring just over three minutes into the game. Off a penalty corner, Sydney White fired the ball toward the goal, which landed right to Lotte Smorenburg, who tapped a shot into the cage.
Just over halfway through the first the Raiders earned their first penalty corner of the game. Sarah Killcommons got a shot off, but she put it wide of the goal.
Colgate had another penalty corner two minutes into the second. The Raiders nearly found the back of the cage as Amanda Allen and Ella Murphy both took shots from close range that got stopped on diving saves by the goalie.
Less than a minute later, Alice Walton had another good look at goal for the Raiders, but her shot landed just off target. Colgate held strong defensively in the second, as it did not allow a goal.
Lehigh scored three times in the third to extend its lead to four. Just over a minute into the quarter Guus Hogendoorn fired a shot into the goal.
With 8:17 remaining, Kiki Mes played the ball to Maddie Kandra for a shot she slotted in. Just over three minutes later, Hogendoorn scored her second of the game on an unassisted goal.
Colgate was unable to get much going offensively in the second half as the Mountain Hawk's defense held strong. Lehigh topped off its scoring with a goal from Sarah Bonthuis when she found the back of the cage off a pass from Kandra with just over eight minutes left.
The Raiders' defense shut down the Mountain Hawks on two other penalty corners in the fourth. Anna Unger also made a pair of big stops in the quarter as the senior finished her last game as a Raider with five saves.
Colgate finished with four shots in the game, three of which were on target.
