WORCESTER, Mass. – Another day and another sweep for Colgate Volleyball.
Colgate used a balanced effort on both sides of the net to take care of Holy Cross and extend its winning streak to 11 matches. The Raiders' 3-0 win is their second consecutive sweep and fourth in their last five matches dating back to Sept. 17 against American.
Colgate posted a season-high .385 hitting percentage while holding Holy Cross to .132. Abby Shadwick led the charge with a match-high 12 kills. Sydney Jones paced the team with 20 assists and eight digs, while Gillian Hauschild, Harper Snyder, and Greta Hoogstra each added a pair of blocks.
Set 1: Colgate 25, Holy Cross 10
Colgate broke away from a 4-4 tie with four unanswered points thanks to a pair of kills from Shadwick and Snyder. The Raiders blew it open with a 7-0 scoring surge, sparked by a service ace from Jones, to pull away for an 18-8 advantage. After Holy Cross scored the next two points, Colgate answered with another 7-0 run, capped off by Shadwick's sixth kill of the set.
Set 2: Colgate 25, Holy Cross 19
The Raiders posted a match-best .385 hitting percentage to take control of the second set. Colgate used three separate 3-0 runs, with the last one highlighted by another kill from Shadwick, to pull in front 23-16. Kills from Snyder and Kurowski closed out the set.
Set 3: Colgate 25, Holy Cross 17
Cami Carfino served back-to-back aces and Colgate raced out to a 4-0 lead in the third and final set. After Holy Cross fought back to 12-12, the Raiders built their lead behind a pair of 3-0 runs. Shadwick notched two kills before Kurowski posted back-to-back service aces to climb in front for good. Snyder and Shadwick teamed up for a block to close out the match, 25-17.

"This was a good road win. Victories are hard to come by, especially on the road. I liked our energy and communication from the beginning until the end. Our setters did a good job keeping our hitters in rhythm. Overall, it was a very good offensive match."
