ALBANY, N.Y. – Colgate Men's Soccer hit the road for their final non-conference matchup against UAlbany in a Tuesday, Oct. 18 matchup under the lights. The Raiders netted one late in the first half but conceded a goal in the 71st minute to walk away with a 1-1 draw.
Chris Noriega kicked off the game with a goal from a near impossible angle in the 36th minute, scoring off a free kick. Noriega's goal was the first of his career.
Andrew Cooke stood tall for the Raiders, saving one shot and conceding another. Cooke holds an overall record of 4-2-5 in net this season.
Colgate held the overall advantage throughout the game, firing four shots on net to UAlbany's two. The Raiders were handed 11 fouls to the Great Danes 15.
The Raiders opened up the game with tons of pace, finding open lanes to feed the ball throughout the field.
Timmy Donovan found an opportunity to score in the 29th minute, firing the ball just wide of the net.
Chris Noriega opened up the scoring in the 36th minute, netting the first goal off a free kick from a near impossible angle, curving the ball towards the net and receiving help from the post to sneak one past the keeper.
The Great Danes bounced back in the 71st minute, scoring from within the box and putting the ball just past Cooke's outstretched arm.
The Raiders looked to bounce back in a series of offensive opportunities from Noriega and
Drew Fischer, but the pair missed just high of the night. The two programs battled it out throughout the final 20 minutes but ended with a 1-1 draw, bringing the Raiders record to 6-3-5.
