HAMILTON – The Colgate field hockey team surrendered five goals in the first half in route to a 7-2 loss to Lehigh on Saturday.
The Mountain Hawks scored their first two goals less than a minute apart from each other as Leah Mullery and Drew Pecora made it a 2-0 game just over three minutes into the game.
Colgate's best chance in the first quarter came off a shot from Ella Corbett that was save by Lehigh's goalkeeper.
Seven minutes into the second quarter the Mountain Hawks struck again to make it 3-0.
The Raiders got on the board with six minutes remaining in the quarter when a shot from Ella Corbett found the back of the cage. Lehigh would respond with another goal less than a minute later and then tallied one more before halftime as they took a 5-1 lead into the break.
The visitors came out firing in the second half with two early goals in the third quarter to extend their lead to 7-1.
At the end of the third, Corbett put another one in to make it 7-2 Mountain Hawks.
The Raiders had a strong fourth quarter, outshooting the Mountain Hawks 7-1 but could not manage to put another one in.
