Colgate Falls to Lafayette, 5-1

Killcommons Scores in Road Defeat

EASTON, Pa. – A late score by Sarah Killcommons would not be enough to overcome an early deficit as Colgate fell 5-1 to Lafayette on Saturday afternoon at Rappolt Field.

Trailing 3-0 well into the third quarter, an assist from Colgate's Taylor Casamassa to Killcommons put the Raiders on the board with under five minutes remaining in the period. It marked the first career goal for the freshman from Garden City, N.Y.

Unfortunately, the Leopards were unthwarted by the Raiders late efforts and continued their offensive attack adding a pair of goals in the fourth quarter to provide the final margin. Lafayette outshot Colgate 25-5, with 14 shots on goal.

The Leopards scored at least once in every quarter with two scores coming on penalty shots. Lafayette junior forward Felicita Hannes paced the day with three goals.
Raiders goalkeeper Anna Unger saw a lot of action to start the weekend and finished with nine saves, the second most the senior has tallied this season.

FROM THE SOURCE
Head Coach April Cornell

"We came out with a lot of energy and intensity in the first half and I'm really happy to see that improvement from the previous match. We need to continue to create more dangerous goal scoring opportunities for ourselves and take care of the ball into the attacking third. We are pumped to play Cornell again tomorrow and getting mentally and physically ready for a quick turnaround."

UP NEXT
The Raiders return home to host Cornell in a rematch tomorrow at 2 p.m. ET. The Raiders-Big Red faceoff on Sept. 12 favored the Big Red, who won 3-1. Sunday's game will be live streamed on ESPN+.
