Raiders Fall to Princeton 2-0

Two Second Half Goals Leads Tigers to Win

HAMILTON– Two second half goals pushed Princeton over Colgate on Sunday evening.

The first half saw little action as Colgate recorded just one shot, coming from Kian Alberto .

Princeton did not find too many chances either, only putting up three shots. A close chance by the Tigers in the 25th minute saw Andrew Cooke making a diving save to keep the game tied.

Cooke tallied six saves in net for the Raiders.

With time almost up in the half, a long ball off a free kick from Colgate found its way into the box but no Raider players were able to get their foot on it.

In the second half, Princeton pulled ahead in the 52nd minute off a through ball played into the box that Moulay Hamza Kanzi Belghiti placed into the bottom half of the net.

The Tigers scored again in the 64th minute when Francis Akomeah-Sirleaf finished one off a rebound.

Both teams played physical in the second half, but the Raiders had few chances to score.

Will Stroud found himself open for a shot in the 80th minute but it was not much of a challenge for Princeton's goalkeeper.

"We have played some strong opponents to start the year who have really challenged our guys at the highest level. In the long run these experiences will pay off. We have a resilient group and I guarantee that they  will continue to fight and grow. I am motivated to lead this group to achieve what I know they are capable of."
